Chobits Vol. 2: The Empty City (DVD)

When Hideki moves from Hokkaido to Tokyo to attend college, he quickly finds that big city life is much different than he imagined. The widespread use of Persocoms (personal computers designed to look and act like animals or humans) especially astounds him and makes him feel slightly inferior since Hideki cannot afford one. However, when he finds a discarded Persocom in the trash named Chi, Hideki sets about fixing up only to find that she can somehow operate without an OS, forcing Hideki to wonder if she is, in fact, real. In these episodes, Chi decides to get a job to help Hideki out with the expense of keeping her running. Unfortunately, the naive Chi decides to get a job at a peepshow, disturbing Hideki and causing untold complications.

Bug (DVD)

Bug begins, appropriately enough, with a young boy squashing a cockroach on the sidewalk, an act that sets into motion a number of other, larger catastrophes. Looking on is Wallace (Carroll Lynch), who berates the boy for taking an innocent life, thus beginning a series of bizarre coincidences that affect the lives of a group of strangers living in LA. Whimsical and surreal, BUG is an imaginative directorial debut from screenwriters Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay (CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL).
